Students take a closer look into how to compose more dynamic and well-balanced images using specific visual rules, such as, the Rule of Thirds, the Rule of Space and the Rule of Odds. Students then look at taking photographs from different perspectives, such as Ant's Eye and Bird's Eye and intentionally tilting the horizon line through the frame. I push my students to try and see the world through the lens of their camera...to see the camera as an extension of themselves. These are the basics of developing a visual language through photography and part of that understanding comes through understanding and practicing these visual rules. In the words of Picasso, "You have to learn the rules like a professional, so you can break them like an artist."
